Crooks in BMW targeting homes, cars in Memorial Village

HOUSTON – Police in the Memorial Village area are working to find a group of thieves who are breaking into homes or attempting to break into homes.

Investigators say the thieves aren't driving what you'd expect.

Memorial Villages Police Chief Joseph Sanders told Local 2 the men and woman are driving high-end luxury cars,  most likely because BMWs and Mercedes Benzes blend in better in the upscale area and residents aren't as suspicious.

All of the burglaries are happening during the day between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., when most homeowners are at work.

Someone will go up to the front door and knock to see if anyone is home; if no one answers they break in.

The warning to residents is to be careful and be aware of any vehicle that appears to be suspicious and driving slowly through your neighborhood.
