Woman driving truck runs off road, lands in White Oak Bayou

HOUSTON – A woman had a close call Friday morning after her pickup truck ran into White Oak Bayou in northwest Houston.

According to Houston police, the woman was driving on T.C. Jester and West 34th when she ran off the road and down the bayou embankment.

The truck landed upright in the water.

Rescuers helped the woman, 45, out of the vehicle and onto dry land.

She was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police say the woman was trying to avoid an accident and her brakes malfunctioned.

"She said she was trying to brake but that was it," an officer on the scene said. "She just went down the hill."
