Police: Suspect killed in attempted home invasion in SW Houston

HOUSTON – Houston police are investigating after they say a homeowner shot and killed a suspect in a home invasion Thursday.

The incident happened at 7502 Corporate Drive in southwest Houston around 2:30 p.m.

Police say they believe an unknown number of suspects tried to break into an apartment and did not realize there were two men inside. 

Officers say one of the suspects fired a pistol into the apartment after he partially forced his way in. That's when one of the men inside the apartment got his pistol and returned fire.

The armed suspect died at the scene and an unknown number of suspects fled. The dead man's identity is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

No charges have been filed yet and the investigation is ongoing, according to the Houston Police Department.
