Free Kayak Demonstrations in Missouri City:
There will be free kayak demonstrations at Independence Park, located at 2621 1/2 Court Road in Missouri City, both Saturday and Sunday. There will be clinics on basic paddling, kayak fishing and kayak sailing.
The clinics run Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Sunday noon until 3 p.m. Click on the link for the exact times for each clinic.
Free Strange Fruit Performance at Discovery Green:
Free performances by Australia's Strange Fruit are set for this weekend at Discovery Green in downtown Houston. The shows are described on their website as a combination of circus, theater and dance as daredevils perform perched atop 14-foot tall flexible poles.
The first performance is Friday, September 20 at 8 p.m. There are three shows on Saturday with performances at 3 p.m., 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. Two shows are scheduled for Sunday at 3 p.m. and 6 p.m.,
Free Party on the Pier - Galveston:
Galveston is hosting the September edition of Party on the Pier with free music from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Saturday. The Pee Wee Bowen Band will be performing classic rock on Pier 21.
