Landscaper accused of scamming homeowner

Prosecutors fear there may be more victims

HOUSTON – A Houston area man is accused of stealing thousands of dollars from a homeowner who requested landscaping services, according to court records.

Kent Maloney has been charged with a felony of securing execution of a document by deception.

According to police, Maloney was sent by Noack Maintenance and Landscaping to an inquiry into a new irrigation system.

According to the report, Maloney and the prospective client came to terms on an installation and completed a written proposal for approximately $2,600.

Almost a year later, the homeowner contacted Noack Maintenance and Landscaping about her warranty, according to police. Maloney told his employer that homeowner had elected to go with another company.

Maloney is accused of pocketing the money.

According to the district attorney's office, Maloney's most recent employer was Premier Yards. The district attorney wants to hear from anyone who has done business with Maloney while he was at either company.
