WHARTON, Texas – A driver was killed in a collision involving an 18-wheeler Monday.
State troopers said the wreck happened in the southbound lanes of U.S. 59 near County Road 212 south of Kendleton, Texas about 9:30 a.m.
The collision also involved a pickup truck. The driver of that vehicle died at the scene. His name has not been released.
Officials have not said if the driver of the 18-wheeler was injured.
Traffic was backed up for about two miles before the scene cleared shortly before 11 a.m.
The cause of the collision is under investigation.
