On Sept. 16, a woman called police to report an assault at her apartment around 1 a.m in the 2300 block of S. Millbend Drive.

She said she was asleep in her bed when she woke up to a man standing close to the foot of her bed. She described the man as white or Hispanic with a slight accent and between 18 and 24 years old.

She told police she believed the man entered her first-floor apartment through an unlocked patio door.

"It's just hard to know that it happened once and it maybe could've been prevented the second time. But it since occurred again," resident Laurel Roberts (not the victim) said. "I chose to live in The Woodlands because I didn't think these types of things would happen out here."

On Oct. 13, between 1 a.m. and 3 a.m., a woman reported a similar crime to police. She said a man, fitting the same description, entered her apartment through an unlocked patio door as well. The man was reportedly wearing black pants, a black T-shirt and white tennis shoes.

In both crimes, the victims reported the man used bedsheets to restrain them during the sexual assault.

"This has really opened our eyes to what could happen here," Laurel's mother, Emily Roberts, said.

The man was last seen wearing black work pants, a black T-shirt and white tennis shoes.

Anyone with information to either investigation is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office's detectives division at 936-760-5876.
