2 San Antonio police officers arrested for DWI

Both officers have been placed on administrative leave pending investigation

SAN ANTONIO – Two off-duty San Antonio police officers have been arrested for driving while intoxicated overnight, the San Antonio Police Department announced Friday.

SAPD officer Gena Rodriguez, 39, was arrested just after 10 p.m. Thursday after causing a three-car accident. Inside the vehicle at the time of the accident were her three children, one in a child safety-seat, SAPD said.

No one was seriously hurt in the accident but Rodriguez, an 11-year veteran of the force, was arrested at the scene.

Then early Friday morning 46-year-old Harold Thomaston, a 20-year veteran, was pulled over after running a red light in front of an officer. He has been booked on a DWI charge.

San Antonio police chief William McManus said in a statement released Friday that he is disappointed that the officers would put public lives at risk.

Both officers have now been placed on administrative leave pending both internal and criminal investigations.

BCSO deputy also arrested overnight on DWI charge

A Bexar County sheriff's deputy was also arrested overnight on a drunken driving charge, officials said.

San Antonio police said Sabrina Moreno, 24, was arrested early Friday morning near Interstate 10 and USAA Boulevard.

She was an 8-month employee of the Bexar County Sheriff's Office, officials said.

Moreno was put on probation and "termination procedures" have begun, officials said.
