2 killed in Houston-Chicago tour bus crash

PALONA COUNTY, Texas (NBC News) - Two people are dead after a Houston-based tour bus en route to Chicago collided with an 18-wheeler in west Texas.

The crash occurred on Highway 59.

Officials said the bus driver had just left a truck stop when he got word that he had left a passenger behind.

The driver made a U-turn and ran into a passing 18-wheeler.

Officials said the bus driver died at the scene. A passenger sitting behind the driver also died.

Police said several other bus passengers were injured and taken to a local hospital.
