HOUSTON - A Houston family is mourning the loss of their two teenagers after a fiery crash.
Ruth Taylor and her husband are heartbroken after hearing the two grandchildren they helped raise were killed in a deadly accident.
"Their mother called me and said 'Ruthie, they're gone. They're gone,"' said Ruth Taylor.
James Taylor, 19, was with his sister and another man when investigators say James refused to pull over for a traffic stop in Jasper, Texas early Saturday morning.
Ruth said her 17-year-old granddaughter, Shelby Taylor, was frantically texting with her mother as she tried to convince her brother to pull over. It was that moment, deputies say, when James Taylor ran a red light and was t-boned by a pickup truck.
The crash caused the mustang to burst into flames, killing James and Shelby Taylor instantly.
"When I drove up on the scene, it was fully engulfed," said witness Leon Clark.
Police who responded to the crash said it's one of the worst crashes they have ever seen.
According to court records, James was wanted in Harris County for skipping out on bond in October. He was facing a charge of misdemeanor theft.
