HOUSTON - Traffic on a busy Houston freeway was backed up for miles Wednesday because of a wreck that involved two 18-wheelers.
The wreck happened in the outbound lanes of the Katy Freeway near Taylor about 1:45 p.m.
Investigators said a driver swerved to avoid a collision with another car.
One of the cars ended up under an 18-wheeler that was stranded on the side of the road.
A second 18-wheeler, which was moving, ended up overturning across all but one lane of the freeway.
Three people were taken to hospitals. The extent of their injuries has not been released.
According to Houston TranStar, the wreckage cleared off the freeway before 6:30 p.m. Traffic was still backed up in the area.
Both 18-wheelers were loaded with crates, officials said.
