One arrested after teen killed, deputy constable hurt during violent brawl

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – A 17-year-old boy is dead after a heated argument over a stolen rental car and shooting in north Harris County, the Harris County Sheriff's Office said. A deputy with the Harris County Precinct 4 Constable's Office suffered a concussion during a brawl. A teenager is now charged for his role in the fight.

Investigators said two groups of men in their late teens to early 20s were arguing in front of a house on Verde Trails Drive in the Remington Ranch subdivision near Airtex, west of the Hardy Toll Road Wednesday night. The argument was over a stolen rental car the men were sharing.

An estimated 100-200 people were huddled in the area and a fight broke out. The scene became hostile at one point, according to reports.

At one point during the argument, deputies said one of the men fled the scene, and ran over a 17-year-old. He died at the scene.

Detectives told KPRC 2 the teenager might have also been shot. At least 8 shell casings were found at the scene. Harris County deputies said the man who ran over the teenager did call authorities after the incident.

A female Pct. 4 deputy was assaulted by someone at the scene, according to reports. She was taken to Ben Taub hospital. She suffered a concussion and has been released from the hospital. She has not been cleared to return to work.

Raychard Brown, 17, was arrested during the brawl and charged with interference with duties of a public servant.
