Man shot to death in north Harris County apartment complex, deputies say

HOUSTON – A 31-year-old man was found dead Tuesday morning in a north Harris County apartment complex, deputies said.

The shooting was reported at 11:24 p.m. at the Chartwell Court apartment complex in the 15000 block of Ella Boulevard and Grand Point Road.

Harris County sheriff's deputies said Anthony Ray McCardell was found shot to death in his apartment by his common-law wife. The wife told officials she found his body after returning from a family member's home, authorities said.

“The wife came over to check on him about 10:30 this morning, she was staying with family members because they were in the process of moving out of the apartment and there's very little furniture inside the apartment right now when she discovered his body,” Harris County Sgt. Ben Beal said.

Investigators determined McCardell died of a single gunshot wound and there was no sign of forced entry.

There has been no arrest made.

Homicide detectives are at the scene.
