1 killed, 1 injured in hit-and-run crash in SW Houston

Houston police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash in southwest Houston. 

Police said a Toyota Corolla and a black Honda Accord were speeding Thursday night on South Dairy Ashford when the Toyota sideswiped the Honda, causing it to lose control and smash into a tree.

According to police, a man and a woman were in the Honda. A 43-year-old man was was taken to Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital, where he died, police said.

Investigators believe that the woman was ejected from the vehicle. She was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital in critical condition.

The driver who hit the vehicle briefly stopped, but fled, police said.

Police said the crash is being investigated as a hit-and-run.

The victim's identities have not been released.
