1 dead in shooting after dispute in north Harris County

HOUSTON – One person is dead after a dispute led to a shooting Thursday inside a north Houston home.

The shooting happened around 10:30 a.m. in the 1200 block of Sadler Street.

"We kept hearing gunshots and we were like, 'When is it going to end?'" one neighbor said.

The gunfire erupted late Thursday morning after a dispute involving as many as five people. A woman, who did not want to be identified, lives in the neighborhood and said she saw the man who was shot.

"The guy was all full of blood and the one that was with him told us that he got shot three times," the woman said.

She told KPRC2 the man who gave her that information is the shooting victim's cousin. He was also inside the house at the time of the shooting and was rushed to the hospital for an unknown health emergency after police said he shot a man believed to be a suspect in the killing.

The man who was shot was inside a truck found in a ditch across the street from the home where the shooting took place. He is now in the hospital.

Another person was also arrested.

An additional suspect is still on the run, according to police.

Detectives said they haven't been able to pinpoint a motive because they're getting conflicting stories.

"Until we can either get the individual who was in the truck and or the other individual who is in the hospital with health concerns to speak with us. Both of them gave conflicting statements originally at the scene," HPD Detective T. Ferguson said.
