Girl, 3, man killed in possible murder-suicide

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – A father killed his 3-year-old daughter, then killed himself, according to information provided by various law enforcement sources.

Deputies were called around 9 p.m. Thursday to a home in the 5400 block of Plantation Forest Drive. One man was found dead inside the home.

The young victim's grandmother discovered the bodies.

The shooter, identified as Tarel Dontay Felder, 26, lived in the home, too.

His daughter, Amyira Felder, had been visiting the last few days, according to the girl's mother, Shonique Johnson. Amyira lived in Louisiana with Johnson most of the year, she said by phone.

Johnson became concerned after receiving a phone call from Tarel Felder.

"He was trying to get me to come out there, to come back out there to move and live with them. I told him, 'No,' Johnson said. "He was telling me he was going to keep my baby away from me, he told me she wasn't going to come back."

Neighbors were awakened by the flood of emergency vehicles that descended on the Plantation Lakes Subdivision late Thursday night.

"[This] neighborhood is a very quiet neighborhood. You wouldn't expect nothing like that to happen," Don Franklin said.

A GoFundMe account has been set-up to help Amyira's mother in funeral expenses.

"I want to bring her back home," Johnson said.
