The vet office where she worked treated the dog and reported the incident Wednesday, police said.

Detectives found narcotics in Folse's home, WDSU reported. Officials said they believe the narcotics were obtained through prescriptions for her own pets.

Folse was taken to Jefferson Parish Correctional Center, WDSU reported. She is facing charges of aggravated cruelty to animals and illegal discharge of a firearm, as well as drug-related charges.
