Cop crawls on thin ice to save dog from pond

N.J. officer ties rope around waist to rescue pet

A New Jersey cop tied a rope around his waist and crawled on a frozen pond to rescue a dog who had fallen through the ice and into freezing water, WCBS reported.

The stranded dog paddled frantically to get to the officer, Robert Voorhees. He grabbed her by the collar so other officers could pull them to safety Friday in Hopewell Township, WCBS reported.

The dog, Nisel, was warmed up and reunited with her owners, WCBS reported.

Voorhees said he has a puppy, making the rescue all the more emotional, WCBS reported.

“I got a puppy at home, and I was, like, crying,” he told WCBS.
