66-year-old novelist gets a tattoo on live television

Novelist Doug Williams gets his first tattoo live in our studio.

HOUSTON - Does it hurt to get a tattoo? Are you too mature to get inked? Doug Williams can answer that with a big no.

Williams is a 66-year-old novelist and screenwriter who got his first tattoo live in our studio by veteran tattoo artist Nate Beavers.

It took Beavers three hours to complete the work on Williams' arm, the image of a vintage typewriter honoring his career’s roots as a journalist.

Williams hopes that nobody worries about the loud sounds or the pain of getting inked. “I thought I was going to be crying like a baby, but I fell asleep.”
