Celebrating the Astros

After sweeping the New York Yankees in the ALCS last night, in celebration of World Series week, Houston Life welcomes Astros Stadium Announcer Bob Ford to our studio today!

Bob Ford, voice of the Astros, discovered his talent for public speaking at an early age.

Growing up in Galveston, he bleeds orange for space city and the Houston Astros since 1994. His unforgettable voice has been heard in the Astrodome (NRG) and Minute Maid Park announcing the baseball starting lineups over many years.

Before moving to the booth, he hosted the Astros’ pregame and postgame radio shows. When the Astros were on the hunt for a new announcer, it was meant to be. Ford quotes, “It’s not like it’s work…all of us get to watch a baseball game every night.”

The now longtime voice of the Houston Astros, Bob Ford will be inducted into the Texas Radio Hall of Fame in November. After all the work he’s done in his career, and the lasting impact he’s had on the Astros organization and fanbase, this honor is so well deserved!

Courtney and Derrick sat down with the Astros legend himself to recap last night’s game, the upcoming World Series, and more about his amazing career in radio. Watch the video above to get to know the iconic man behind the mic!
