Inside the costume department at Cirque du Soleil's Luzia

See how costumes, hair and makeup transform the big top into an imaginary world

HOUSTON – Each night, the artists in Cirque du Soleil's Luzia dress in elaborate costumes and makeup.

From human-size birds to larger than life animals, their looks play a big part in transforming the big top into an imaginary world.

So how does it all come together?

In the video above, Houston Life co-hosts Derrick Shore & Courtney Zavala take you behind the scenes into the show's costume department to chat with the head of wardrobe, Amanda Balius, and with one of the performers, Kelly McDonald, as she completes her makeup for the show.
