Halloween recipes

They look spooky but taste delicious

HOUSTON – Co-owner of Houston Moms Blog Meagan Clanahan stopped by our studio with some creative recipes, including From donut monster to mummy pizza to pumpkin Rice Krispies treats, that are perfect for a neighborhood party or for a snack before trick-or-treating.

The best thing about these recipes is that making them with your children is a fun activity for them too.

Donut monsters

Ingredients:
•    Candy eyeballs
•    Icing gel
•    Vampire teeth
•    Large box of doughnuts

Directions:
Insert the vampire fangs into the hole of the doughnuts.  Then, use the icing to glue the eyeballs onto the doughnuts.

Mummy pizzas

Ingredients:
•    Sliced English muffins or French bread
•    Pizza sauce
•    Mozzarella cheese in ribbons
•    Olives for eyes

Directions:
Add pizza sauce to the bread, and then add the sliced olives for eye. Then, using the mozzarella strips, lay them on your pizza so they “wrap” like a mummy.  Bake for 8 to 10 minutes.

Pumpkin Rice Krispies treats

Ingredients:
•    6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
•    3 tablespoons butter
•    10 ounces marshmallows, or approximately 1 bag
•    Red & yellow food coloring , to mix to make orange food coloring
•    Mini Reese's peanut butter cups, for the stems
•    2 green M&M's, for the leaves

Directions:
Melt butter and then add marshmallows until melted. Add food coloring until you get a nice orange color. Mix in the Rice Krispies treats. Form small balls, then add the stems “peanut butter cups” and the leaves “green M&M's”.
