From Venezuela to Houston, how Karina Gonzalez became a Principal dancer for the Houston Ballet

She was a little girl in Venezuela with big dreams of becoming a ballerina

HOUSTON – Karina Gonzalez was a young girl in Venezuela looking for the folk dance studio.... that's when fate stepped in.

"Asking in the street they sent my mom to the right instead of to the left, and that was the ballet school," Karina said.

After dancing in Venezuela, she received an offer to dance in Oklahoma.

While in Oklahoma, she was invited to audition for the Houston Ballet

"I came here as a soloist and three years later I became a Principal," Karina said.

You can catch Karina on stage at pretty much every Houston Ballet production.
