Motivation Monday: Triumph over breast cancer

The inspiring story of a 26-year-old breast cancer survivor

HOUSTON – Meet Amy, a woman who heard the words, "You have breast cancer," at a surprisingly young age. In this motivation Monday she used yoga and clean eating to help get her through the toughest journey of her young life.

"I had 16 IV chemotherapy treatments, and then I had a unilateral mastectomy with lymph node removal, and then I had 30 rounds of radiation, and now I'm finishing up on 6 rounds of an oral chemotherapy pill."

It all started with a lump, no family history of breast cancer, and at 25 years old doctors believed this was probably a non cancerous benign tumor.

Amy has a tremendous support system, and admits not every day is easy.

"I just realized that I didn't want to live my life unhappy, even though I'm having to deal with something that's not so great like cancer, but you just kind of flip the switch and you learn to just enjoy life even though you're going through something difficult."

Clean healthy meals filled with tons of veggies and yoga is what Amy says gave her a sense of calm and normalcy.
