Child falls down Galleria escalator, causes commotion during 'Houston Life'

HOUSTON – A child fell down an escalator Monday just outside the studio of "Houston Life" at the Galleria, causing a brief commotion.

At the end of the show, hosts Derrick Shore and Courtney Zavala quickly exited the set after showing concern regarding something they saw happening in the mall off-set.

Shore said that he heard shrieking, and someone in the mall shouting. This sent Shore, Zavala and the rest of the "Houston Life" crew running off-camera.

Shore said it was later revealed that a mother had placed her child’s stroller on the upstairs escalator. He said that it appears the child fell out of the stroller and down the escalator.

According to a Galleria spokesperson, the child was not seriously injured and went home with their mother.

Shore said emergency crews quickly cleared the area.
