HOUSTON - The University of Houston is offering free diabetes screenings on Tuesday to mark Diabetes Wellness Day.
More than 30 million people in the United States have diabetes, and more than 10 percent of adults in Texas have the disease, organizers said.
Health experts will be on hand from noon to 4 p.m. at the UH Health and Biomedical Science Complex on Calhoun Road in Houston.
People can get a free glucose screening, blood pressure check, weight checks, diabetic retinal screenings and a private consultation with a doctor.
November is also Diabetes Awareness Month.
