Community Health Choice makes big donation to help fight Zika virus

HOUSTON – Community Health Choice donated $100,000 to the county Thursday to help stop the spread of Zika virus and prevent the disease in Houston.

They say some of the things that the donation can provide are Zika virus-related educational and prevention kits to at-risk children and families, material for physicians offices, and help staffing a bilingual phone bank to answer questions.

Judge Ed Emmett said on Thursday that there are plans in place for what will happen if or when the Zika virus hits the Houston area. He said the state would take control if it gets into the mosquito population, similar to how it responds to a natural disaster.
