HOUSTON – We've seen some light displays and Christmas trees go up already, but this weekend is a big one for parks and cities to flip the switch and usher in the holidays.

All of the holiday joy we've rounded up is free for the whole family.

The merriment kicks off at Houston City Hall on Friday for the Mayor's Holiday Celebration from 6 p.m. until 8 pm. Santa will be on hand to help light the tree, and there will be holiday music and fireworks.

Missouri City's SnowFest will have all that at its City Hall complex, plus a three-lane snow hill, moonwalks and photos with Santa. The fun starts at 5:30 p.m. Friday. Park at Thurgood Marshall High School and take a free shuttle to the festivities.

Walk through Dickinson's Festival of Lights at Paul Hopkins Park Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
