Freebie Friday: Prom, Earth Day, more

HOUSTON – It is prom season, and from tickets to the dress to the flowers, prom can be expensive.

Remington College is helping students look like a million bucks without spending a penny.

Students can get free haircuts, up-dos, manicures, pedicures and makeup at the 8th Annual Prom Night Makeover.
Beginning Saturday, all students have to do is call the Remington College School of Cosmetology Greenspoint Campus at 11310 Greens Crossing, Suite 300, to make an appointment. The phone number is 281-885-4490.
Reimngton is offering the services on these dates and times:

April 22, 29
May 5, 6, 11, 12, 18, 19, 25, 26
Weekdays: 10-11 a.m. and 12:20-2 pm  
                          Saturdays: 8-11 a.m.

Enjoy Earth Day with a picnic in the park at another brand new Houston park. Evelyn's Park is at 4400 Bellaire Blvd.  It will be bustling with grand opening activities Saturday from 11a.m.  to 5 p.m. including a mini farmer's market, beer, wine and cheese tastings, a kid's treasure hunt and more.

Deck out your doggie... and head to Sienna Plantation in Missouri City for a Canine Carnival from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. There's a costume contest, inflatables, food trucks and performances by Houston Dock and Disc Dogs.

Hit it out of the park in Pearland's Southlake community Saturday from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.
Perry Homes is sponsoring the free fun at The Parks at Southlake that include a scavenger hunt, hot dogs, beer and wine and games.

There is a lot of fun on tap Sunday for the Family Fun Day at Spindletap Brewery on Hirsch Road. Show up anytime between noon and 6 p.m. for live music, face painting, a family movie at 3 p.m. and balloon animals.
