Houston singer on the 'The Voice' Monday night

Stephanie Rice competes in the battle rounds

HOUSTON – A Houstonian continues her journey Monday night on NBC's "The Voice."

Contestants will compete in the second week of the battle rounds. Houston resident Stephanie Rice is one of them.

Rice is a Texan through and through. She was born in Texarkana, she has ties to Sherman and she has lived in Houston since she was 18.

According to her bio on "The Voice" website, Rice worked at Baylor College of Medicine and became a published author in the International AIDS Society. You may have seen her perform with local band Colonial Blue.

Rice is on Team Gwen.
