Club Nomadic opens with Chainsmokers, Sam Hunt performances

HOUSTON – Houston is the place to be and be seen this week.

"This is my third time in Houston, the other two were to play the Texans years ago," former NFL player Chad Johnson said.

The center of that excitement? The EA Sports Bowl at Club Nomadic on the venue's opening night.

Despite heavy traffic and street closures, visitors were amazed at the temporary nightclub built specifically for Super Bowl.

"It's huge and it's bright and there's spotlights outside. It's kind of amazing," Erin Liu, from Sugar Land said.

Nomadic was granted necessary permits from the city just a day before opening night.

On Thursday, doors opened on schedule for a Chainsmokers and Sam Hunt concert.

Event organizers said over 7,500 people were in attendance, and they expect 1,000 or more attendees on Saturday.

Sports superstars have been impressed with Houston so far.

"Houston is a beautiful city. I live in Arizona so this is the closest I can get to New Orleans food, so I'm really excited to be here," Tyrann Mathieu, Arizona Cardinals, said.

"There were Rockets cheerleaders with pom poms as we got off the plane, then there were a bunch of people with Super Bowl 51 shirts, welcoming us, so the hospitality was second to none," Kirk Cousins, Washington Redskins, said.
