HOUSTON – Starting Thursday, Cinemark will not allow oversized bags into its theaters.

The new policy is the company's latest effort to tighten up on security, it said.

In a release posted on its website, Cinemark said "any bags or packages measuring larger than 12" x 12" x 6" will not be permitted into the theatre." The only exceptions are medical and diaper bags, the release said.

Cinemark said it does not have a place to check bags that exceed the required size or any other personal items. According to the company's website, they might also inspect any bags brought into theaters.
