'This Is Us' promises 'ugly cry' during post-Super Bowl episode
HOLLYWOOD – Fans of NBC’s “This Is Us” are bracing for the special, post-Super Bowl episode of the beloved series.
The final moments of last week’s episode seemed to set the stage for what fans know is coming at some point – the death of the Pearson family patriarch, Jack.
The show’s cast and creators are being tight-lipped about Sunday night’s episode, but a few months ago, Milo Ventimiglia, who plays Jack, talked about how his passing is not the end of the line for the character.
“I think that’s something a lot of people worry about with Jack,” Ventimiglia said. “When we see Jack’s death, does that mean Milo the actor goes away? It doesn’t mean that at all. That’s a chapter. It’s just a chapter in a great big book. We’ve told that story. Now we have got to focus on another story.”
No one has said what’s going to happen in the postgame episode, but fans can count on a sobbing tsunami that tops the ones they have come to expect.
“That’s like our grand slam is an ugly cry,” said Justin Hartley, who plays Kevin Pearson, one of the storied family’s children.
