Don Williams, country music's Gentle Giant, dies at 78, reports say

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Country music singer Don Williams has died, according to a report from WSMV-TV. He was 78.

The NBC affiliate in Nashville reported that Williams’ publicist announced the singer’s death Friday.

The country crooner was best known for his hits “The Shelter of Your Eyes” and “Tulsa Time.”

Williams was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2010. He retired in 2016.

He was born in Floydada, Texas, on May 27, 1939.
