Texas movie theater to host women-only screening for 'Wonder Woman'

Austin-based Alamo Drafthouse chain known for quirky marketing

AUSTIN, Texas – The Texas-based Alamo Drafthouse movie theater chain is known for their creative marketing, from themed food and drinks to "quote-along" screenings.

Their new one comes with a "no boys allowed" caveat.

The Alamo Drafthouse Ritz theater, in Austin, will screen a showing of DC Comics' new "Wonder Woman" movie for women only.

"And when we say 'Women (and People Who Identify As Women) Only,' we mean it," the company announced on its website. "Everyone working at this screening -- venue staff, projectionist, and culinary team -- will be female."

Actress Gal Gadot's stars as the lasso-wielding superhero, alongside "House of Cards" maven Robin Wright and "Star Trek"'s Chris Pine.

The Drafthouse's women-only showing of "Wonder Woman" is at 7 p.m. on June 6. For ticket information, click here.

A Drafthouse representative said there are currently no plans for a women-only showing at any of the three San Antonio Drafthouse theaters, so be prepared to pack up your Amazon bracelets and golden lassos for a roadtrip up Interstate 35.
