Shop high end brands at low prices for a great cause

HOUSTON – The Blue Bird Circle Resale Shop on West Alabama will hold a charity event Thursday evening to raise money for Houston children.

The Blue Bird Circle in Montrose, which is run by volunteers, has raised money for children with neurological disorders for 93 years. The Blue Bird Circle Young Professionals Partnership will host the Thursday event for new recruits and bargain hunters.

"DJ Sun will be there spinning old-school funk and hip-hop," said Regina Romano. "It's very much a party, but we're also introducing all these amazing deals."

Kate Spade, Chanel, Prada and Manolo Blahnik were among the labels that consumer expert Amy Davis spotted at the shop. The shop features luxury brands at low prices and women's designer clothing and accessories, including vintage wedding gowns, shoes, handbags, jewelry and furniture.

"We've been holding back really special pieces that we want to showcase," said Romano.

Because most of the clothing is from a recently closed boutique in River Oaks, there will be multiple sizes of them same items.

"Everything goes back to the children," said Catherine Webe.

The event runs from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the shop at 615 W. Alabama St.

There will be music, food from Tacos a Go Go, Karbach Brewing Co. beer and wine and desserts from Acadian Bakers.
