Household uses for white vinegar

Consumer expert Amy Davis is breaking down some of the different ways you can use vinegar in your home. You may want to add it to your laundry and even rub it on your pets.

You can benefit from keeping vinegar in your kitchen, laundry room or your bathroom because most of us don't realize just how many uses a single jug of white vinegar has.

It is a good substitute for bleach to whiten the grout between bathroom tiles.

First make a paste of baking soda and water and rub it on to the grout lines. Then spray the area with one part vinegar, one part water.

Vinegar can also help soothe a sunburn and relieve the pain from a jellyfish sting.

In the laundry room, it can remove sweat stains from shirts. Just pour a small amount of the stains and rub it in to the fabric before you put them in the wash.

In the kitchen, if you are short on eggs you need for baking, just mix one teaspoon of vinegar and one teaspoon of baking soda as an egg substitute.
