HOUSTON – If you are looking to save some cash, here are a few things to check out.

Houston Fire Department birthday party

The Houston Fire Department turns 180 years old this year. You can help celebrate the milestone at a free birthday bash tonight at the Houston Fire Museum in midtown. You can enjoy free food and drinks from Bollo Woodfire Pizza. The party is from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., but the doors open at 5 p.m. so you can browse the museum.  Community leaders and fire chief Sam Peña will be there too. Peña hopes people will come out to have fun while they learn a thing or two about the department.

"The Houston Fire Department was a vital part of the growth of this city and the success of this city, and it continues to be that," Peña said.

The party is free, but you do have to pre-register here

Mr. McKinney's Historic Houston History bus

Starting Oct. 19 and running through Oct. 29, you can take a free tour on Mr. McKinney's Historic Houston History bus.

"We're gonna be touring all these old fire stations," said Mr. McKinney. "But you're also gonna get a free pass. We're gonna meet here at the Houston Fire Museum. So you get a chance to check out this great exhibit that's all around here, support the work that Houston Fire Museum is doing, but also learn about the Houston Fire Department."

Click here to register for one of the free bus tours. Your ticket is free when you "like" Mister McKinney's Historic Houston Facebook page, his Twitter page and his Instagram page. He'll check your smartphone when you board to confirm you've liked his social media pages.
