Grocery store savings: Best buys to help you stock up and save

HOUSTON – Every Wednesday, the mailman fills your box with grocery store circulars advertising the best deals for the week. In many homes, every week they go straight into the recycling bin.

Consumer expert Amy Davis is saving you time and money by doing the chore for you. She found the best buys at local grocery stores for the week of Jan. 10 through Jan. 17.

HEB had the best deal on red meat

Beef sirloin steaks are $2.97 a pound. That's about $3 off the regular price of $5.89 a pound. You should stock up at this price and freeze some for later.

Kroger has the best deal on toilet paper this week

A Cottonelle Mega 6 roll is 2 for $10. These were $8.62 at Walmart when we checked, so grab these while you're at Kroger.

Kroger also has a digital coupon you can download now for $1 off Cottonelle.

Honeycrisp apples at Aldi

If you buy Honeycrisp apples, you know they are usually $2-something a pound. Aldi has them for 99-cents a pound this week.

Sprouts has seafood deals

For seafood, head to Sprouts this week. They've got wild-caught mahi-mahi filets for $7.99 a pound. You can freeze those too.

These are prices without coupons. If you are really serious about saving money, you can clip or download coupons to make these deals even sweeter.
