As Seen On TV Tuesday: The Tree Dazzler

Easier lights for your Christmas tree

If you are excited about decorating your tree this year, but dreading untangling last year's lights or worried some of the lights on your pre-lit tree won't work anymore, you may be interested in one of the newest as seen on TV products: The Tree Dazzler. Consumer expert Amy Davis put it to the test so you can see how they work before you rush out to buy one.

The Tree Dazzler is from the same company that brought us the Star Shower last year. That was the light that projected thousands of tiny lights on your house and you never had to deal with a single strand of lights. The Tree Dazzler is for your tree indoors. We took it to a mom Abigail Medrano in Pasadena to help her get the season off to a bright start. Medrano looks forward to decorating the tree with her 4-year-old Jazzlyn every year, so she likes to keep things simple. She doesn't like the headaches of traditional lights on a string.

"They tangle up so much," she said. "I just don't like that some of the light bulbs go out and it's just a big hassle."

The Tree Dazzler costs $40; and it promises a dazzling light show in seconds. The dazzler is like a halo for the top of your tree. The lights cascade down in strands.
Once it's on your tree, there are 16 different settings. You can set the lights to "Still, shimmer or show" and you choose the colors. Medrano likes that the bulbs are bigger than the small traditional lights; and she feels like they're also safer for her little ones who like to touch.

"I really like that these are real cool and they don't heat up," she said.

You could spend more time weaving the lights into your tree, but it took Medrano less than a minute to hang her Tree Dazzler on top and turn on the lights.
She said that's worth the hours of enjoyment she'll get with her daughters by their tree this year.

"It is way better than going out and buying lights or having to deal with the lights from last year and untangling them," she said. "So I definitely would give them a thumbs up and a 10."
