Amazon to take on clothing subscription service

Amazon is jumping into the clothing subscription service with the likes of StitchFix, LeTote and the Trunk Club. The online giant's service is called Prime Wardrobe and it's offered exclusively to Prime members.

It will allow customers to order items at no upfront charge, receive the order and only pay for what they want to keep. Shoppers have seven days to decide what they don't want, and ship it back for free in a resealable box with a prepaid shipping label.

Amazon said the service will feature more than one million fashion items, including brands outside Amazon's private labels.

Prime Wardrobe is still being tested, but Amazon said shoppers can sign up to be notified about the program launches in certain markets.

What makes Amazon's service unique from StitchFix other subscription services is the monthly fee. If you already pay for Amazon Prime, which gives you free, two-day shipping on millions of items, then Prime Wardrobe won't cost you a penny more.
