Frankel family announces retirement, closure of Frankel's Costume Co., Inc.

Store to conclude operations Oct. 27

HOUSTON – The Frankel family, of Frankel's Costume Co., Inc., has announced the store will be closing this year.

The company said on its Facebook page that it was approached in June by a Houston developer who desired the whole city block the company has owned since 2000. The family made the decision to be part of the revitalization of Houston's East Downtown District and said it was time for them to get to know each other as a family and not a family in business together.

"It has been our delight to be a part of Houston's history, and we are grateful for the wonderful memories," the store said on its Facebook page.

The store will conclude operations Oct. 27.
