Southwest 72-hour airfare sale ends Thursday

HOUSTON – Looking for a great deal on that weekend getaway? Southwest may have the answer.

The Dallas-based airline kicked off its twice-a-year 72-hour fare sale Tuesday.

Passengers flying out of Houston's Hobby Airport snag a flight to Corpus Christi or Austin for $49 each way. A one-way ticket to Los Angeles is $129 and a ticket to Cancun, Mexico, is $134 each way.

If you’ve been hoarding your Southwest points, now might be a good time to use them. A flight from Houston to Memphis, Tennessee, will cost you 2,296 points each way. A one-way flight to New Orleans will cost you 2,330 points.

The fares valid only for nonstop service and must be purchased by 11:59 p.m. Thursday in the time zone of the city in which the flight originates.

The fares are not refundable, but they can be applied to future travel on Southwest if you cancel your reservation at least 10 minutes before departure.
