Freebie Friday: Things to do around Houston on the cheap

HOUSTON – If you haven't been downtown to see all the changes right outside Discovery Green and in front of the George R. Brown, check it out Friday night.

Consumer expert Amy Davis is highlighting a couple of fun events this Freebie Friday that will make it worth the trip.

Every Friday through May 27, you can see Circo Avenida. Acrobats, contortionists and other performers from contemporary Houston circus troupe Cirque le Vie turn the Avenida into a stage from 7 p.m. until 10 p.m. every Friday.

If you can't make it Friday, bring the kids to Discovery Green Saturday at 1 p.m. for the FUNomenal Family Festival featuring a baby Olympics for infants 6 months on up to 5-year-olds.

Saturday is also Conroe Kidz Fest beginning at 10 am. in downtown Conroe. They'll have train rides, inflatables, face painting and more.

It's Bayou Greenway Day along Brays Bayou Saturday. Head to MacGregor Park on Calhoun Road between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. for the free outdoor festival.

If you've got a little Lego lover in your family, plan ahead to drop in the Lego store in The Galleria, The Woodlands Mall or Baybrook Mall Tuesday or Wednesday evening for a free build.
You do have to register here before you go.
