REI offers free classes to get people outside

REI made a splash in 2015 when it decided to stay closed on Black Friday. It did the same in 2016 and willagain remain closed on Black Friday this year, paying itsemployees not to work and urging customers to spend the day outside instead.

Recreational Equipment Inc. is hosting its first ever Outdoor School at the end of June.

REI’s nationwide event takes place on July 30-31. The recreational retailer is offering free kayaking, map and compass navigation and stand-up paddle board classes. In all, REI is offering over 400 free outdoor events across the nation to get people together outside.
