Do not light these fireworks: Important July 4th recall

HOUSTON – Before you light your fireworks loot Independence Day, make sure you didn't buy any Black Cat Cone Fountain Fireworks.

Winco Fireworks International of Lone Jack, Mo., is recalling about 14,000 of them. According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, when they're ignited, the devices can burst and spread sparks and pyrotechnic materials outward instead of upward as intended, posing fire and burn hazards to bystanders.

The firm has received three reports of the devices spraying outward. No injuries have been reported. The fireworks, manufactured in China, were sold at fireworks retailers nationwide from March 2016, through June 2016, for about $9.

If you have some, you should immediately return the recalled fountains to the retailer where you purchased them for a refund or exchange.
