Infant bicycle helmets recalled for choking hazard

Pacific Cycle is recalling thousands of infant bicycle helmets because of a choking hazard.

The helmets with magnetic no-pinch buckle chin straps were sold exclusively at Target between January 2014 and April 2016. About 129,000 helmets were sold.

According to the company, the magnetic buckle on the chin strap has small plastic covers and magnets that can come loose and pose a risk of choking and magnet ingestion for young children. The company has received three reports of the cover coming loose, but as of now, no one has reported any injuries.

The helmets are made for children ranging from 1 to 3 years old. “SCHWINN” is printed on the front. Parents should take the helmets away from children immediately and contact Pacific Cycle for a free replacement. Consumers can call 877-564-2261 or email customerservice@pacific-cycle.com.
