Facebook denies censoring conservative news topics
Facebook is denying accusations of political bias among workers who administer its "trending" section.
According to a report published by Gizmodo on Monday, an anonymous former contractor claimed to see suppression of news about popular conservative topics. Facebook said actions such as that would violate the company’s trending guidelines.
The head of the team responsible for trending topics also said he found no evidence the allegations are true. The Conservative Political Action Conference, one of the groups reportedly blocked from the trending list, said it would closely watch how the claims unfold.
Facebook users can also manually remove certain topics from their trending list.
