Get Rodeo ready on a budget

HOUSTON – It is Rodeo time in Houston! Time to pull out your buckles, boots and bling or get shopping! Consumer expert Amy Davis explains how we can all get rodeo ready on a ranch hand's budget.

If you're just chompin’ at the bit to get to the rodeo, but you don't have a thing to wear, Cheryl Copperwheat can probably help you out.

"Everybody wants to be a cowgirl for the day. They want to go to the rodeo," she told Davis.

Copperwheat owns A New-U Boutique at 11407 Spring Cypress Road in Tomball. The consignment store is filled with rodeo wear. From hats to boots and belts to bling, Copperwheat says you'll save about 70 percent off what you would pay retail for most items. She's got big name western brands like Hairston
Roberson and Double D Ranchwear. Most of it is like new; but some have never been worn and still have tags.

Copperwheat tells shoppers to bring in what they already have to create a whole look.

"You can add a jacket. We can add a tunic top. We can put some jewelry with it," she said.  "You know, just tell me what your budget is; and we can work with that."

If you can't make it to the shop, but you need duds for Go Western Day, we found hats at Wal-Mart for $22, men's western shirts and even some Jordache coveralls for your little cowgirl.
