HOUSTON - Future country stars will be rocking the rodeo this year after winning a place on the Kids Country stage.

"I was so excited. I was like, 'Mom, I am going to sing at the rodeo!" said 14-year-old Madie Dean.

Madie, a Montgomery High School ninth-grader, is one of 20 semifinalists in the Rodeo Rockstar competition. More than 35,000 votes were cast to pick the semifinalists out 134 online auditions.
Erica Honore, 14, said she is excited to make the cut.

"I have been practicing everyday to perfect it, so when I walk off the stage I have no regrets," she said.
Ashley Austin, 18, entered the competition with a song she wrote herself.  She hopes to move to Nashville.

Stratford senior Will Lynde is heading to Nashville and Belmont University in the fall.  He said he submitted his online audition an hour before the contest closed and he is excited for the chance to perform.

You can see the semifinalists perform March 6th, 5 pm, at the Kids Country stage at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.
